I think it's worth noting that I have the DS 1054Z and it is the same price point and is significantly more powerful. Might be worth taking a look at the Rigol DS1054Z for first time scope buyers.

I have yet to try BeagleBone, but I am currently working on a project that required more SRAM than was available on the Arduino Uno Atmega328p. So I started shopping around. No experience with this product, but if I were attempting a similar project I would definitely consider this as it could easily be interfaced with Arduino and has lots of good supporting documentation and code. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11824
