Re: Water Quality Sensors

I've been thinking about this. More and more people are making their own simple, low budget spectrometers. Some are even as simple as a light, and a 3d printed piece that clips onto a phone with an app running and it gives you a rough estimation on quality. I feel this is a good thing to look into.

Re: 3D scanner?

Couldnt agree more. Why do something with expensive hardware if it can be done with a common camera and software.

Re: Portable, solar powered vaccine/diabetic cooler

There will be much more coming. Looking into the idea Eric had about making a sort of "drop in module" that is self contained with a battery, a peltier, a heat sync and thermostat that can be dropped into any foam cooler, you plug a solar panel into it and it just works. Ive realized it can be reall...

Re: Cell Phones for deforestation

Wow this is brilliant. I mean its simple, but its one of those problems you really cant grasp until you get there. I know for a fact that I've got 2 or 3 cell phones sitting in the drawer next to me, and a 6v 5w solar panel not far from my desk. Its a simple solution, but sometimes those are the best.

Portable, solar powered vaccine/diabetic cooler

So I've had this project kicking around for some time. A common problem with getting people vaccines in 3rd world countries, is they degrade the higher the temperature is. This is also true for diabetic medicine many people in 1st world countries use too. This can make something even as simple as a ...

Re: Home Automation?

Yep. Its a safety mechanism so in case of fire you dont get trapped in. Now a very easy way to combat this would to be to have a small battery inside the lock if you wanted to maintain the locked state, but be able unlock it remotely (in any other situation OTHER than a fire.) But thats an increase ...

Re: 3D scanner?

I've worked with the Kinect setup a bit myself. However if 3d scanners are gonna be a real thing, we need to see them hit a much lower price point. Most that I've seen are comparable pricing to actually buying a small 3d printer :P However 3d printers have hit a much lower price point too. But to an...

Re: My Master Frequency List

I should see about writing up some user-submittable page to make documenting/finding frequencies a breeze. I love the work StrangeBeacons does, along with many others in documenting weird and unknown frequencies, and if we could setup an easily navigable and searchable page, people just might stop a...

Re: Forum Sections/Topics

Excellent work Eric :) And the quadcopter or a general Unmanned Aerial System section would be neat too.
