Finally got around to scratch building a Flite Test model from dollar store foamboard. I have to say I am simply AMAZED! The most time consuming part was tracing and cutting all the pieces (I really need to make friends with someone who has a big laser cutter ha) Once everything is cut it glues together really quickly. When completed these things are TOUGH! I can't believe how resilient it seems. It should take some hits very well. I did the "blunt nosed" Versa conversion which allows for more room for FPV and cmera/OSD equipment.
It is CRAZY tail heavy! Even with a 3300 3S battery and a GoPro Hero2 up front I still needed to add a bunch of weight to the nose. That will be better later when I get the video transmitter and OSD installed.
I 3D printed the motor mount and servo horns. As well I wanted a mount for the Lipo and Gopro but I could not find a design for this. As a result I designed one and it is now on Thingiverse for all to enjoy. The mount doubles as a skid plate for the nose/belly.
Cheers!
